Knox Montgomery Oakley Jr. "Monty" Obituary

Knox Montgomery Oakley Jr., affectionately known as "Monty" to his friends and loved ones, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Royse City, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on February 5, 1948, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Monty grew into a man of exceptional character, warmth, and humor.

Monty's life was marked by a deep love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Roxane Oakley, with whom he shared nearly 44 years of marriage since their wedding on March 14, 1981. Together, they built a life full of joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Monty was a proud father to his children, Knox Montgomery Oakley III "Trey" and his wife Brittany, and Lindsay Reddick and her partner Timothy Hill. His role as "P'Paw" to his grandchildren, Hayln, Shelby, Knoxlie, Mason, and Abigail, was one he held dear to his heart, always ready with a hug or a playful jest.

Monty's love for his family was paralleled only by his passion for the great outdoors. An avid boater, fisherman, and camper, he found solace and excitement in nature's embrace. He would often be found biking through the trails or strumming his guitar by the campfire, surrounded by the laughter of his family and the loyal companionship of his furbabies, Annie and Doc. His love for animals was well known, remembered fondly for his previous furbabies, Jersey Girl and Duke.

When Monty was not enjoying the outdoors, He was a skilled professional photographer, known for his ability to capture the essence of his subjects with remarkable precision. His keen eye for detail and unique perspective allowed him to transform ordinary moments into extraordinary visual stories.

Before his passing, Monty was preceded in death by his father, Knox Montgomery Oakley Sr., step-mom, Adelene Oakley, mother, Emily Anne Alvey, and his brother, Michael Oakley. Their memories remained a guiding light in Monty's life, as he upheld the values they instilled in him from a young age.

Known as a hard worker, Monty's commitment to providing for his family was unwavering. Yet, it was his innate ability to balance this with a playful spirit that truly defined him. As a prankster, Monty's humor was a source of joy and laughter for all who knew him. His selfless nature was evident in every aspect of his life, always placing the needs of others before his own.
