Carlo Liberti Obituary

Carlo Liberti, longtime resident of Bucks County, passed away peacefully at Pennswood Village, Newtown, PA on February 14, 2025.

Born in Padova, Italy, he was the son of the late Eugenio Liberti and Silvia Paolina Contin. He was predeceased by his elder sisters Tommasina Marin (nee Liberti) and Gina Liberti. On the day he arrived in New York city to live with his uncle Carlo Liberti, he met his future wife Mirca (nee Mapale), to whom he was married for 60 years. She predeceased him in 2010.

Always passionate about the value of education, he pursued a baccalaureate at NYU night school while bookkeeping for the family jewelry business. His love of numbers led him to attain an MBA from NYU. Following a stint in the international finance division of Merck & Co, he served in a variety of senior financial positions for Philco-Ford Corporation. His Italian heritage and MBA gave him the opportunity to spend more than a decade as Financial Comptroller for Philco Italiana, which gave his family the wonderful opportunity to experience life in Italy first-hand, close to relatives and amazing locations. Following retirement from the accounting department of the Princeton Plasma Physics Labs, he volunteered with the Bucks County chapter of SCORE for many years and spent time with his grandchildren at catch-and-release ponds in the Poconos.

For the past 14 years he was a resident of Pennswood Village, where he found a loving community; he participated in the Finance Committee, The Pennswood Play Readers and many activities of the Society of Friends. He enjoyed foods all his life and always reminded us to “save some room for dessert.”

Carlo is survived by his son Lawrence Liberti and wife Geraldine (nee Coyle), his daughter Laura Klimitas (nee Liberti), three grandchildren, Matthew, Gabriel and Nora Liberti, his great-grandson, Owen Liberti, and many loving relatives in the US and Italy.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Chapel of Saint Louise de Marillac at Saint Vincent de Paul Church | 654 Hatboro Road | Richboro, PA 18954 from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Mass begins at 11:30 AM.
