Mrs. Virginia Inez “Ginger” Baggett Howard, age 87, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Ginger, affectionately known as GiGi by her family, was born in Rome, Georgia, on April 17, 1937, daughter of the late Sidney Vester Baggett and the late Gladys Phelps Baggett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe William Howard, and her brother, Carlton Baggett. Ginger and Joe were married on July 13, 1954, and were happily married for almost seventy years. Their heavenly reunion on Valentine’s Day did not go unnoticed by their family.
GiGi was a graduate of Rome High School, Class of 1955. Upon meeting her husband, she joined New Armuchee Baptist Church where she was a member for over seven decades. She worked for Sun Trust Bank for several years until her retirement. GiGi loved volunteering with her grandchildren’s schools and was often a field trip chaperone and classroom aide.
Survivors include her daughters, Jori Ann Day (Jim), and Gina Montgomery; sister, Linda Johnson; grandchildren, Jaime Day, Cody Hale, Cameron Day, Jordan Day (Jessica), Caitlin Hale, Sydney Grace Wilson (Parker), Emma Kate Day, and Aimee Montgomery; great grandchildren, Dexter Witt (Katilyn), Kayleigh Day, Kyrie Day, Ava Crowe, and Mason Colleps; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who was adored by her family and will be profoundly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with her grandson, Cameron Day, officiating. A private interment will follow in New Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 12:00pm until 1:45pm.
