It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jodi Lynn Marie Dunn, who peacefully left us on February 14, 2025 at the age of 54, with her family by her side.
Loving daughter of Linda Dunn, sister of Donna Wither, Sheri Ruby, Tricia Frias and Rebecca Arquette. Special Aunt to Alyssa Arquette. Jodi will also be missed by the loving staff at Sunbeam Community & Development Services.
Though Jodi was nonverbal, her presence spoke volumes and her spirit touched everyone who knew her. Jodi’s life was filled with love, laughter and strong bonds with those who cared for her. Jodi was born in Windsor Ontario. Shortly after a healthy birth, a fierce illness left Jodi with a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and a profound intellectual disability. In her early years, Jodi thrived at home with her family. As Jodi matured and grew her diverse needs required a facility that could cater to her unique development.
At the age of six, Jodi joined the Sunbeam family where she resided for 48 years. With the support, love and dedication of the Sunbeam staff Jodi experienced many opportunities to enjoy life despite her limitations. Jodi’s days were filled with library visits, swimming lessons, horseback riding, community field trips and social gatherings. The educational programs fostered by the caring Sunbeam staff were remarkably exceptional.
Jodi attended St. Mary’s High School where she excelled in an integrated and specialized education program. Jodi graduated and received her High School Diploma in 1989.
Jodi enjoyed the peaceful sounds and sights of the outdoors. She loved watching the birds fly, the butterflies flutter and the little animals scamper around in front of her. She loved going for strolls outside where she could simply feel the warmth of the sun and a gentle breeze on her face.
Jodi was happy and unaware of her limitations in life. Her smile was bright and contagious. Jodi taught us to appreciate life, the beauty of contentment and the importance of silent communication. Her playful spirit and beautiful soul will be forever cherished by her family and caregivers.
We wish to thank all the ICU doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital for their commitment to compassionate and exceptional patient care. We are forever grateful to all the staff and management at the Sunbeam Community & Development Services for their unwavering support and dedication to Jodi's wellbeing throughout the years.
