Rose Mary Suriano 95, of Troy passed away peacefully on Friday February 14,
2025 at Van Rensselear Manor. Born in Troy to William and Catherine Donahue
Edwards on April 27, 1929. Married to James C. Suriano Sr. for 65 years until his
passing in 2015.
She graduated from CCHS in Troy in 1947 and was employed by New York
Telephone Company in management. Moved to Kileen, Texas from 1952-1954
when Jim was drafted during the Korean Conflict, she and Jim resided on Short
Fifth and then moved to Wilde Drive in Troy .Rose Mary was a devout Catholic
and active parishioner of St. Mary’s and St. Michael’s churches both in Troy .They
enjoyed vacations in Cape Cod, Lake George and Disney World and traveled to
Clearwater Beach Florida and Myrtle Beach in retirement. She and Jim hosted
numerous backyard pool parties and family picnics most notably the Annual 4 th of
July Celebration .
Rose Mary was the unpublished author of poems and children’s songs for her
grandchildren and she had an extensive bell collections and was known as
“Grandma Bells “ by her great granddaughter Sophia. Rose Mary is survived by
her children Beth Casale ( John ) James C. Suriano Jr. ( Lisa ), Philip Suriano (
Donna Prespare) and Todd Suriano Sr. ( Toni Gwinn ) she was the grandmother to
10 grandchildren and 6 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. She
was pre- deceased by 5 siblings William Edwards, Michael Edwards, Shirley
Hughes, Elizabeth Heller and Catherine Felter
The funeral service for Rose Mary will be held on Wednesday morning at 11
AM at St. Michael The Archangel Church in Troy where a mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the
church Wednesday morning from 9 am until 11 AM
