Teresa Tolbert (born Teresa Joann Coachman) was birthed to Doris Coachman and the late Jacob Brown Sr. on June 4, 1971, in Donalsonville, Georgia.

At an early age, Teresa joined the Newberry African Methodist Episcopal Church (now Newberry Community Church) and dedicated her life to THE LORD, continuing throughout her life to touch those around her with the compassion as instructed of us all by JESUS.

Teresa would graduate from Early County High School in 1989. During her time in high school, Teresa would date and later marry her high school sweetheart Tom H. Tolbert II with their union being formalized through marriage on December 2, 1991. Teresa would later travel to Baumholder, Germany, with Tom and give birth to their daughter Taniesha Tolbert on July 26, 1997.

While living in Baumholder, Teresa worked for the United States Army and spent time traveling with her daughter across various countries during Tom’s deployment. Upon her arrival back to the States, Teresa and her daughter would move to Columbus, Georgia, with her sister Shenetha Conley, where she would go on to acquire an associate’s degree in human resources from Columbus Technical College. Teresa would go on to have a career working as a Financial Aid Advisor at Columbus Technical College and later as a Receptionist at Orchard View Skilled Nursing Facility.

Teresa passed away on February 14, 2025, in Griffin, Georgia.

She is survived by her daughter Taniesha Tolbert-Johnson (Shamar); her sister Shenetha Conley; her mother Doris Coachman; her best friend Tom Tolbert II, and a host of family members and friends.

She will be remembered as a ray of sunshine in everyone’s life and as having a warm heart. She was a comforter, a fantastic mother, and a phenomenal sister. Teresa was a free-spirited woman who uplifted everyone around her with jokes and witty humor. She always brought a smile to everyone and was cherished by all. She will be greatly missed. Heaven has truly been made grander by her arrival.
