It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jerry T. Ruggieri, of Warren, Ohio at the age of 96 years.
He leaves Jean (Amoline) Ruggieri, his dear wife of 70 years who he loved and admired. His daughter Christine Ruggieri (Rick Ritchie), who treasured all their days together. Also, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins who shared countless happy celebrations with him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia who he cared for and cherished. He was the son of Frank and Theresa Ruggieri who also proceeded him in death.
Jerry assumed his father’s dry-cleaning business where many families and friends worked over the years. He loved his family and will be remembered as a devoted family man and someone who was fun to be around. He continued to make new friends of all ages and his sense of humor; quick wit and ability to make you feel special will be missed by many.
He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and planned many class reunions with classmates that he stayed in touch with throughout his life.
Jerry enjoyed many seasons of abundant gardens (always a crop of garlic), bowling, reading, watching Notre Dame football games, and following politics. But nothing compared to his love of fishing. He spent many happy days on boats and offshore - there was never a bad day on the water.
Jerry was a founding member of Blessed Sacrament Church where he remained active throughout his life. He volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen where he met many wonderful friends.
Memorial Donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church (Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish) or The Wounded Warrior Project. Jerry was an army veteran and very patriotic throughout his life.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1.pm. on Thursday, February 20 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Rd NE, Warren, OH 44483 with calling one hour prior. Burial to follow at All Souls Cemetery.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Shanita who arrived as a caregiver and remains as a friend. Also, Rashad who’s physical and emotional support was a blessing to all. Thank you to wonderful neighbors who have shared stories, laughs, and will remember Jerry as someone with a good heart.
