Sheila Steffes, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on February 14, 2025. She was 69 years old.
Born on September 8, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, Sheila was the cherished daughter of the late Floyd and Esther (Bone) Lasure. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Steffes, on June 30, 1973, at St. Peter Catholic Church of Detroit, and together they built a beautiful life in Clinton Township, raising four loving children who were the center of her world.
Sheila had a strong work ethic and a warm, welcoming presence, making her a natural leader in her career. She worked for many years in leadership positions as a manager at 7-Eleven before becoming the head teller at Huntington Bank, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her customers and coworkers.
Beyond her career, Sheila’s heart belonged to her family and her many creative passions. She was a talented knitter, crocheter, and seamstress, lovingly crafting baby blankets, needlework, and cross-stitch treasures for those she cared about. Her handcrafted gifts were a symbol of her love—each stitch woven with warmth and affection. Sheila also loved playing bingo.
Sheila found joy in simple pleasures, from camping trips with family and friends to gathering loved ones together in her home, where her hospitality and warmth made everyone feel special. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she made sure they always felt cherished.
To know Sheila was to love her. Her bubbly personality, infectious laughter, and ever-present smile could brighten even the darkest of days. She led by example—a woman of strength, grace, and endless positivity. Never one to complain, she faced life’s challenges with resilience and an unshakable spirit.
Sheila’s presence will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to love her.
