Curtis Paul Kingbird, age 54, Eagle Clan, of Redby, MN, began his journey to the spirit world on Friday, February 14, 2025 in Red Lake, MN.

Curtis was born on October 16, 1970 in Red Lake, MN to Lucille (Downfeather) and Jack Kingbird Sr. Curtis was an excellent cook and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping with family. He sang at pow wows in his younger years and liked to play cards and horseshoes. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Wesleyann Strong, Martell Strong, Rule Kingbird, Sage Kingbird; grandchildren: Aniya, Ava and Eve Fredericks; brothers: Jack Kingbird Jr, Darrell Kingbird Sr, Willard Kingbird Sr; sisters: Phyllis Kingbird, Doris Kingbird; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Those greeting him in the spirit world are his parents: Lucille and Jack Kingbird Sr; paternal grandparents: Jane and Paul Kingbird; maternal grandparents: Sara and Earl Downfeather; sister, Donna Lewis; brothers: Harold Kingbird Sr, Gerald Kingbird, Ronald Kingbird, Edmund Kingbird Sr; nieces: Lorrette Caldwell, Alana Anderson, Lucynda Caldwell, Stephanie Caldwell; nephews: William Kingbird Sr, Darrell Kingbird Jr, Ronald Jack Kingbird, Gerald Raisch Jr, Dewayne Lewis Jr and Leo Kingbird Sr; as well as numerous other relatives.

A traditional wake will begin at 1PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service at 10AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 with Mike Needham as spiritual leader. Active pallbearers will be: Willard Kingbird Jr, Mickey French Sr, William Kingbird Jr, Bruce Taylor Jr, Randall White Sr, Kenny Lussier, Cole Kingbird, Kyle Kingbird Sr, Kendrick Kingbird, Cheyenne Kingbird and Farrell Kingbird. Honorary pallbearers will be: Shelly English, Debbie Johnson, Merrillee “Buddha” Strong, Collette Kingbird, RayJean French, Danielle Kingbird.
