James Todd Dawson, age 57, passed on Friday, February 14, 2025, of a sudden and brief illness.

Todd was predeceased by his father, James Dawson; and stepfather Christian Hansen. He is survived by his mother, Betty Hansen; brother Michael T. Dawson; niece Rachael Dawson; nephew James M. Dawson; stepbrothers Darryl and Douglas Hansen; and godmother Gertrude Palicia.

Todd worked in sales at Dickinson Equipment in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was an avid North Carolina Tarheel fan and continued his father’s hobby of buying and fixing up cars.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Clay Dickinson and the employees of Dickinson Equipment for all their love and support during Todd’s illness.

A service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. A reception will follow the service at Fairview Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Hospital for children.
