George O. Carey, age 70, of Orrville, formerly of West Salem, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 14, 2025 in Wooster, following a period of declining health.

George was born on March 16, 1954, in Lodi, Ohio, to the late John and Lillian (Pemberton) Carey and married the love of his life, Brenda Hyder on March 10, 1974 and they have been happily married for 50 years.

He graduated from Northwestern High School and was employed as a Welder and Supervisor for Rayco Manufacturing in Wooster for 25+ years, retiring in 2017.

George was a member of the Orrville American Legion Post #282 and the Orrville VFW Post #3446. He had a passion for Classic cars, especially his beloved 1967 Chevelle.  Oftentimes he could be found working on cars in his garage with a smile and a Pabst Blue Ribbon in hand. He enjoyed drag racing at Dragway 42, deer hunting with his daughter and was an avid Cleveland Browns, Guardians and NASCAR fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Brenda is his daughter, Ginger (Alton "Rick") Ault; granddaughter, McKenzie (Maddy Lindecamp) Gallion; two sisters, Frances (Jerry) Gray and Sherry Blake; brother, Dave Buchanan; and special brothers-in-law, Rick Weber and Barney Szymczak.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Aurie Szymczak, Sue Carey and Patricia Swartz;  brothers, John Carey, Charles Carey and Danny Thomas Buchanan.

There will be no services and cremation will take place.
