Norma Jean Shelley Obituary

Norma Jean Shelley, 94, Sandusky, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, in the Commons of Providence.


She was born on March 26, 1930 in Castalia, OH to the late Luther and Emma (Burr) Gowitzka.


She was a retired after many years as a school teacher, having taught at Schutz American School in Alexandria, Egypt for 4 years.


Norma was a strong woman of faith. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, where she was involved with the sewing ministry, also loved to cross-stitch, and spend time with her family.


She is survived by her children, Cathy (Max) Kaser, Michael (Joanne) Shelley, and Kris (Tim) Andres; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Daniels.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Shelley; parents; son, Mark Shelley; great-grandson, Caden; and brothers, Arthur Gowitzka and Robert Gowitzka.


There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025. in Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia, OH 44824.
