Jean E. (Yealy) DeGroft, 95, passed peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Sunflower Hill Assisted Living, Westminster, MD.  She was the loving wife of Robert B. DeGroft who died January 20, 2010.

Born December 25, 1929 in Littlestown, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Florence (Wallick) Yealy.

Jean graduated from Littlestown High School in 1947 where she excelled as a basketball player and after graduating, worked for her father at the Littlestown 5 and 10 store.  On July 1, 1951, she married Bob and they were happily married for 59 ½ years until his passing.

She worked for Bon Ton Department Store and retired after 22 years as a department manager and worked part-time at the Hanover Bowling Center.  An accomplished bowler, she was inducted into the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame in 2000 and was a member of the PA State and York County 600 Clubs.  Jean was a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Hanover Bowling Center and served as Secretary and Treasurer for 21 years.  She and her late husband were active members through the years at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York Street, Hanover.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristina Suter and husband Joseph, Columbia, MD; daughter-in-law, Christine DeGroft, Spring Grove; grandchildren, Shawn Suter and wife Liz, Baltimore, MD, Erica Mulholland and husband Casey, Lutz, FL and Jason Flynn and wife Breanna, York, PA; great grandsons Devyn and Grayson Flynn; sister, Betty Dols, Alexandria, VA and brother, Dean Yealy, Littlestown.

She was preceded in death by her son Kim DeGroft; sisters, Lois Myers, Marguerite Bair and Eloise Sentz and brother, Bud Yealy.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11 AM at Little’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.  Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Suter, Shawn Suter, Jason Flynn, Devyn Flynn and Grayson Flynn.
