Anita Guffey, 68, of Champaign, passed away peacefully at home on

February 14, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Anita was born February 9, 1957, in New Castle, Indiana, daughter of James Guffey and

Carolyn Pickard. She is survived by her two sisters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Pickard of

Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Nora French of Punta Gorda, Florida. Anita is also survived

by her loving and supportive partner, Beth Shadle of Reno, Nevada.

Anita dedicated her adult life to helping others. Through firefighting, paramedicine and

emergency management, she mentored others to selflessly serve those in their time of

need.

Anita’s outgoing personality led to a strong friend group whom she enjoyed traveling, golf,

fishing, bowling, evenings out, and playing poker.

Anita will be honored through a Celebration of Life at a future date.
