Robert Eric Reader, 74, of West Winfield, NY passed away at Wynn Hospital on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Robert was born on September 1, 1950 in Clinton, NY, the son of the late Robert and Alma (Will) reader. He was educated at West Winfield schools and graduated from the Manlius Academy. Robert worked as a laborer and carpenter throughout his life, as he was also a fishing guide on the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY and in Alaska. for many years.

Robert and Julieanne (Healey) Reader began their union in 1976, and they have two children.

Robert was a lifelong outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved to play poker with family and friends, sharing stories together. He was a true animal lover who had many cherished pets throughout his life.

Robert was a dedicated family man, and he taught his children the meaning of hard work and honesty. He kept his circle tight, and he was fiercely loyal to those he cherished. A barbecue with beer, clams and family was a perfect day for him.

He is survived by his wife Julieanne, daughter Heather (Robert) Eggleston, son Aaron (Caprice) Reader, grandchildren Reed and Vivienne Eggleston, brother Jeff (Rhonda) Reader and nephews Bryan Reader and Kyle (Erin) Reader. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Alma Reader, in-laws Richard and Mona Healey, sister-in-law Patricia Bougie and brother-in-law Richard Healey.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11am at Dimbleby Funeral Home, 365 West Main Street in West Winfield.

His family would like to thank the West Winfield Ambulance Squad, the ICU team at Wynn Hospital, and the healthcare professionals who cared for Robert during the challenges he faced later in his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the West Winfield Fire Department
