Gary Edward Rosenberg, 68, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Long Branch, New Jersey.


Born on April 13, 1956, in Rockville Center, New York, Gary graduated from Freehold Township High School as part of the class of 1974 before continuing his education at William Paterson College. His career spanned 23 years at Monmouth University as Telecommunications Manager, before retiring in 2022.


Beyond his professional life, Gary was deeply involved in high school athletics, dedicating 45 years as an NJSIAA high school football referee. His passion for the sport and commitment to fair play left a lasting impression on players and fellow officials. Additionally, he served as the former president of the Optimist Club, demonstrating his dedication to fostering positivity and support within his community.


Gary is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, his son Matthew and daughter-in-law Ashley and his cherished grandchildren, Landon and McKinley. He is also survived by his brother Jeff Rosenberg and his wife Valerie; sister Donna Reed and her husband Bryan, and sister Lori Allerton and her husband Bill; as well as brother-in-law Joseph Rice and his wife Tara. Gary’s legacy continues through his nieces Kimberly, Kaitlyn, Lindsey, Leanne, Kelsey, Taylor, and Hayley; and nephews Scott and Joseph. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine and Don Rosenberg.


A memorial service will be held on February 21, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church in Freehold, New Jersey (211 Elton Adelphia Rd.), beginning at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will follow at his lifelong residence at 63 Villanova Drive, Freehold from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Please join us for memories at your convenience.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wag-On Inn Rescue in appreciation of their support during a time of need. Contributions can be sent via Venmo or PayPal to "@WagOnInn," with a note stating "In Memory of Gary Rosenberg."


Gary’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
