Charles R. Bakutis, Sr., 79, of East Haven passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Verboski Bakutis. Born in New Haven on May 12th, 1945, he was the son of the late George and Wanda Bakutis. Charles was a mechanic having worked for the former New York, New Haven & Hartford, Penn Central and Conrail Railroads and later for the Metro-North Railroad until his retirement. An outdoorsman, Charles enjoyed kayaking and hiking just to name a few. Father of Charles R. Bakutis, Jr., William M. Bakutis (Valerie) and the late Brian J. Bakutis. Father-in-law of Tammy Bakutis. Grandfather of Amanda (Trevor), Billy (Bryana), Nick, Blacey, Rachel (Zach), Morgan, Krystle (Perry). Great-Grandfather of Payton Rose, Althea and Sidney. Brother of June Ardolino, his twin Frank Bakutis and the late George Bakutis, Jr.
The visiting hours will be Friday morning, Feb. 21st, from 9:00 to 11:00 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital @ www.stjude.org
