Mike Reed, 69 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Troy Michael Reed was born on December 4, 1955 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Millard Herbert and Betty Jo (McCall) Reed. He grew up in Woodward, Oklahoma, alongside his two brothers, Tim and Dan, where he attended school and excelled as a student-athlete. Mike was a standout in football, baseball, and track, earning numerous awards and accolades. He was a key member of the 440m relay team, whose record still stands today, and in 2023, he was inducted into the Woodward High School Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements.

Mike graduated from Woodward High school in 1974 and went on to attend Oklahoma Christian College on a baseball scholarship. In 1979, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Lynn (Feese) Covalt, in 1974. Together, they built a family, raising six children: Angie, Chris, Brandon, Amy, Gavin, and Allie.

A true competitor at heart, Mike had a passion for playing darts and shooting pool, winning several dart competitions throughout the years. He was also a devoted sports fan, never missing a chance to cheer on the Oklahoma Sooners and the Philadelphia Eagles. Outside of sports, he enjoyed perfecting his barbecue skills on his Traeger smoker, sharing his love of good food with family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his three sons and three daughters: Angie Goff, Chris and Alisha Reed, Brandon and Julie Reed, Amy and Eric Rogers, Gavin Reed, Allie and Stan Stapp; 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, life partner Kathe Peil, extended family and friends, who will cherish his memory.

Mike will be remembered for his stellar athleticism, competitive spirit, and his loving character.
