Alice Keams Obituary

Alice Keams, a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 86 in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Born on June 24, 1938, in Ganado, Arizona, Alice's life was a tapestry of selfless devotion to her family, her work, and the countless lives she touched with her nurturing spirit.

Alice’s early education was shaped by her experiences at various boarding and Parochial schools around the states. She later graduated from Thunderbird Academy and went on to attend Pacific Union College for two years, laying a foundation for a life of service and community involvement. Alice's professional journey was marked by a remarkable 32-year tenure with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), where her dedication and compassion left an indelible mark on all who worked alongside her. She also served with heart and soul as a dormitory aid for Holbrook, Toyei, and Greasewood, roles in which she became a surrogate mother to many.

Beyond her professional life, Alice was a master of many crafts. Her hands were rarely still; she found joy and solace in sewing, baking, and engaging in puzzles. Her crochet and embroidery works were not just pastimes but expressions of love, often given as gifts that are now cherished keepsakes. Alice's love for reading allowed her to travel to worlds beyond her own, and she shared this passion with her children and grandchildren, instilling in them the importance of imagination and lifelong learning.

Alice was the loving matriarch of a large and vibrant family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She was the cherished mother of Mary, Eileen, Kimberly, Kristin, and Jodi. Her wisdom will live on through her grandchildren Davin, Harold Jr, Darrin, Katia, Leighton, Gerard, Kayleigh, Jules, Raegan, and Jackson. The stories of her love and guidance will be passed down to her great-grandchildren Damien, Sid, Eithan, Baylie, Hailey, Jacen, Rhy, and Astrid, who will learn of their great-grandmother's profound impact on this world.

Described by all who knew her as loving, wise, and selfless, Alice’s presence was a comfort and her advice sought after in times of need. She had an uncanny ability to listen deeply, speak kindly, and guide her family with an unassuming strength. Her lessons of love, patience, and humility are legacies that will endure through the generations.

Alice’s life was a testament to the power of nurturing relationships and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her memory will be honored not just in words but in the actions of her family, who will continue to live by the values she embodied. As we bid farewell to Alice Keams, we celebrate her remarkable journey and the countless moments of joy and love she brought into our lives.

Alice's departure is a profound loss, yet her spirit remains a guiding light for her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. As the sun sets on her earthly journey, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and wisdom will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she has left behind. Rest in peace, dear Alice, your memory will forever be a treasure in the tapestry of our lives.
