Catherine "Kay" Allison Obituary

Catherine (Kay) Allison died peacefully on February 14th, 2025 in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  She was the wife of the late Richard (Dick) Allison and is survived by her three daughters, Kelly Cifone (Robert), Susan Biela (Robert) and Karen Sergovic (David) and 7 grandchildren, Michael Cifone, Allison Bonjo (Ryan), Danielle McDonald (Ben), Nicole Celotto, Andrew Sergovic, Anna Sergovic and Maeve Sergovic. She is also survived by two siblings Margaret Roth (Jon) and James O’Toole (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers William O’Toole and Robert O’Toole.

Kay was born to Andrew and Elizabeth O’Toole in Clifton Heights on June 2, 1941. Kay was a graduate of Notre Dame de Namur Academy in 1959 and The Camillus School of Nursing.

Kay was a dedicated nurse who began her medical career at Misericordia Hospital in Philadelphia where she tended to patients with her unwavering kindness and a gentle spirit. She later worked at St Joseph’s Hospital and Tri-County Hospital where she cared for many types of patients with an abundance of empathy and compassion. Later in her career, she began to specialize in elder care and worked as a private-duty nurse at Dunwoody Village. Kay was known for her special touch with the elderly and for having deep personal connections with her patients. They always enjoyed her sense of humor and tireless advocacy for their well-being.

In her retirement, Kay enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She could often be found shopping, enjoying meals (and ice cream) with family and friends at her favorite restaurants and ordering gifts for everyone on QVC. Her friends and family will remember her spirited sense of humor that always added a spark of levity to every conversation.  In her spiritual life, she was devoted to the works of Mother Francis Cabrini and found joy and comfort in her novenas and prayers. Kay will be truly missed by her friends and the staff at Merrill Gardens in West Chester where she was a resident for three and a half years.

Relatives and Friends are invited to honor Kay’s life on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Saints Peter and Paul Church 1325 E. Boot Rd. West Chester, PA 19380. Her viewing will be held from 10:00am-10:45am followed by a funeral mass at 11am  Interment will be private.
