Sheridan J. Cavanaugh, III, 68, of Oil City, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Oakwood Heights Village, under hospice care, at the side of his Silly Goose, wife, and companion of 17 years, Jean Daniels Cavanaugh.
Born October 29, 1956, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Sheridan “Bud” Cavanaugh, Jr., and Retta Moyer Cavanaugh.
Known to many as Bussie, he was a true gentleman. His easy-going personality made him a friend of everyone he met.
He graduated from Oil City High School and Venango County Vo-Tech in 1976 and worked at the Oil City Hospital, Davidson-McNair, and UPMC Northwest until he began his battle with cancer.
Bussie is survived by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
His family wants to thank everyone for their support, especially Dr. Padin, Dr. Joneja, Dr. McKimm, and George Fichter, P.A., and VNA Hospice.
Visitation will be held in First Presbyterian Church in Oil City on Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm where a funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Josh Botts officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or a charity of one’s choice.
