Charles "Chuck" Summerlin, 61, of Benson, surrounded by his loving family, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 14 while at UNC Medical Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice of 30 years; a son, David (Michelle); daughters, Shelly Smith (Ryan), Heather Cannady (Greg), Crystal Johnson (partner, Mark Beasley), and Angela Creech (Tod); 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Dawson (Darrell); and a fur baby, "Radar".

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Evans and Mary Pearl Campbell Summerlin; a sister, Joy Grimsley, and a baby brother.

Charles loved his wife, Janice, dearly and didn't ever want to be away from her.  He loved his family and to travel with them on vacations, whether to Maggie Valley, Grandfather Mountain, Cherokee, the Blue Ridge Parkway, or anywhere in the mountains.  He loved to go fishing at the beach.  He treasured his DVD collection with many episodes of Gunsmoke, the Rifleman, Andy Griffith, or old Western movies, the Rocky movies, and even many Disney movies!

A visitation for Charles will be held Tuesday, February 18 at Smyrna OFWB Church off Hwy 96 from 12:30pm-1:45pm.  Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
