Sister Darlene (Stephen Mary) Lenzmeier, SSND, 82, died February 14, 2025, at Benedictine Living Community - St. Gertrude's, Shakopee, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2025, at Windermere Chapel, 1705 Windermere Way, Shakopee, with Visitation at 10:00; Sharing of Memories at 10:30; and a Funeral Liturgy at 11:00. Sister Darlene, was born November 16, 1942, in Shakopee, Minnesota. She attended St. Mark's Catholic School in Shakopee for grades one through eight, and Good Counsel Academy in Mankato for her high school years. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato following her high school graduation in 1960. After profession of First Vows in 1962, she continued her college education and completed her BA degree in 1964. She then began her teaching ministry at St. Stanislaus School, St. Paul, where she taught fourth grade students. In December 1966, as a result of a car-train accident, she suffered a traumatic brain injury from which she did not fully recover. As she was able, she gave service to the SSND community in Mankato and worked with the MRCI Rehabilitation Center in Mankato until her retirement. Along with other School Sisters of Notre Dame, she moved to Benedictine Living Community in fall 2022.

Sister Darlene is survived by her sisters in community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame and SSND Associates, including her SSND cousins Monica Wagner, SSND; Esther Wagner, SSND; and Cheryl Marie Wagner, SSND; and other cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Mathilda (Sand) Lenzmeier, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
