Dorothy Sharon Hansel, 79, widow of Donald “Don” Ray Hansel, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025.
Born in Nashville, TN and raised in Mt. Sterling, KY, she attended Cardome Academy in Georgetown, KY before attending Eastern Kentucky University, where she met her husband. Her love of animals started when she was young, showing horses and later was actively involved with the Scott County Humane Society. She was a former teacher with a Georgetown daycare and loved watching young minds grow.
She is survived by her son, Brian Hansel; her granddaughter, Whitney Lynn Hansel; brothers-in-law, Harold (Jeannette) Rowlett, Roy (Freda) Rowlett; sister-in-law, Sandy Wooten; as well as her niece, Jeanna and nephews, Jay and Jeff. In addition to her beloved husband of 57 ½ years, she was preceded in death by her son, Sean Ray Hansel; brother, Buddy Dotson and niece Jody.
Services will be private.
