Ronald R. Arp, 79, of Independence, IA, died on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Hospice of Mercy House in Hiawatha, IA.
Ron was born on July 5, 1945, in Vinton, IA, the son of LeRoy P. and Nora W. (Luethje) Arp. He grew up on a farm south of Quasqueton, IA. In 1963, Ron graduated from East Buchanan High School. Not long after he purchased his first milk route, he hauled from dairy farms to the Wapsie Valley Creamery in Independence. On February 28, 1968, he married Karen K. Wright at the Hoover Church. They made their home North of Troy Mills. In 1972, they started farming and in the following year also took over farming his father’s farm.
Ron loved to compete. For many years he was a part of a softball team, a member of a bowling league, and a rope pulling team.
Ron continued to haul milk for fifty-two years. He retired in 2015 due to health issues.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Andrea Arnold) Arp, Walker, IA, his ex-wife, Kay Arp, Troy Mills, IA, three grandchildren, Kedryn (Heather) Boddie, Mikalyn Rayann Arp, and Malayna Marie Arp, two great grandchildren, Oakley and Wyatt Boddie, and several nieces and nephews.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Nora Arp, two brothers Charles and Roger Arp, and a sister, Jean Neubuer.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence. A Private Funeral Service will be held later.
