JoAnne Haley Soyars Hodnett, 85, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. JoAnne was born in Madison, NC on June 11, 1939 to the late Carrie Eanes Haley and the late William Clifton Haley. She was also predeceased by her 1st Husband, George Allen Soyars, and her 2nd husband, Samuel Hodnett.
JoAnne, was of the Baptist Faith and attended Cascade Baptist Church for many years and was a very active member, and was a current member of Shady Oak Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a CNA and loving caregiver. She had a special love for Blue Grass Music. Joanne loved spending time with her family and took pride in keeping her home spotless. She never left home without her hair done and her makeup on. JoAnne loved getting greeting cards and phone calls from her beloved family and friends too.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters; Sheila Echols, Tammy Wilson, and Kimberly Hudson and husband William; a step daughter; Cynthia Hodnett; two step sons; Steven and Sammy Hodnett; a sister; Peggy Beard; eight grandchildren; Lindsey Martin, Kyle Hudson, Devin Adkins, Megan Adkins, Hannah Wilson, Cove Soyars, Cara Iwan (Freddy), and Rikki Lee Hamlett (Austin); a great grandson; Memphis Hook; a great granddaughter; Sadie Hamlett; and her special cat; Sweet Pea.
In addition to her parents and husbands, JoAnne was predeceased by a son; Ricky Soyars; a grandchild; Cody Soyars; three brothers; Ronnie, Bobby, and Tommy Haley; and a sister; Linda Howard.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 2:00pm at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA, with Reverend Kenneth Hammock and Reverend Wayne Mayberry officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 1-2:00pm also at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
