The world lost an incredibly bright light with the passing of Alice Mona Gregory, 85, of Greenbush, formerly of Essexville. Alice was born in Bay City on August 29, 1939, and peacefully departed this life on Friday, February 14, 2025.
After graduating from T.L. Handy High School in 1957, Alice continued her studies at Central Michigan University. While at C.M.U., she happened to meet a handsome gentleman by the name of William Thomas Gregory, Jr. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 9, 1962. Their nearly 46 years were blessed with three children and countless memories. Sadly, Bill preceded Alice in death on May 8, 2008.
Bill and Alice were faithful educators with Bay City Public Schools. Alice retired after thirty years of service and was a dedicated 7th and 8th grade teacher at what was then Washington Intermediate School. Upon retiring, they set their eyes north for the family cottage, enjoying the peace and tranquility northern Michigan had to offer. A frequent flyer at the Eagles in Oscoda, Alice was known to try her luck occasionally with the pull tabs and Club Keno. She also enjoyed reading and enjoying lake life on the shores of Lake Huron. In her younger years, she was active in the Moose and Elks Lodge #88, where she was a lifetime member. Above all, Alice's greatest life accomplishment was her family - they were all her true pride and joy. Alice will forever be remembered for her intelligence and her loving and caring ways. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
To carry on her legacy, Alice leaves her three children, Gwenn Gregory Badour (Steven Vanderlooven), Marc (Carla) Gregory, and Matthew Gregory (Maggie Rodriguez). She was the most loving and supportive Gram of Amber Badour, Breanna (Darius) Glover, Dylan Badour, Justin (Jennifer) Gregory, Brandon Gregory (Elise VanParis), Zachary Gregory, and Madison Gregory and the loving Gigi of Jayden, Carter, Colton, Darius Jr., Jackson, and Raeya. Her memory will forever live on in the heart of her sister, Molly (Terry) Molyneaux; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle McCormick, Esq. and the former Alice DeWeale; step-mother, Bernadine "Bunk" McCormick; husband, Bill Gregory; sister, Melissa (Richard) Janke; beloved aunt, Beatrice McCormick, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William T. Gregory, Sr. and the former Eileen Cauley.
