LAKE, Danford William (Bill) Karl in his 89th year, passed away on February 14, 2025.
Previously deceased by his loving wife Kathleen (nee Howlett), his brothers Jim and Bob, and his parents Mary and Karl.
Survived by his sons and their families Bill (Shari), Les (Cheryl), Murray (late Christina), Adam, and Paul (Susie). Also survived by his grandchildren Betsy, Katie (Ryan), Jeff (Mellissa), Michelle (Jamie), and Lucy. Bill was the proud great-grandfather of Hannah, Bentley, Macey, and Octavia. He is also survived by his sister Francelia Gibson and sisters-in-law Marilyn Lake, Lisbet Jackson, Dawn Howlett. Valerie Clark, and Honey Carroll. Bill will be missed by his friend and companion Shirley Neil.
Bill was a carpenter, farmer, and politician. He served his community as a member of the public-school board, Storrington Township as a Councillor and Deputy Reeve, and South Frontenac Township as a Councillor and Mayor. Bill was a lifetime member of the Battersea United Church, a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (local #249), a member of the Three Pillars (Rideau Minden) Masonic Lodge #201, and Kingston Shriners.
The Lake Family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Battersea United Church between 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. A Masonic service will be held, however, timing has not yet been finalized, please check www.jamesreidfuneralhome.com for details. Funeral proceedings will be held at the Battersea United Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2 pm with a graveside service at Sandhill Cemetery to follow. A reception (Celebration of Life) will be held at the Storrington Lions Club, following the service, from 3 pm to 8 pm.
A special thanks to the staff who helped Bill with home care, and the staff at KGH, Providence Continuing Care, and Rideaucrest. A special shout out to his ‘girls’ who made him laugh and smile.
