Arthur Earl Parent Sr., 59, of Hyde Park , passed away on February 14, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Born April 15, 1965, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Clarence and Shirley Knight Parent.

A 1984 graduate of Dover Plains High School, Art most recently worked as Head Custodian at Haviland Middle School in Hyde Park. Prior to the Hyde Park Central School District, he worked in facilities at the Culinary Institute of America for 29 years.

Art loved camping with his family and was an avid NY Yankee and Dallas Cowboys fan.

On September 18, 2004, in Poughkeepsie, he married the former Tricia Gail Upton. Mrs. Parent survives at home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his four sons, Arthur Earl Parent, Jr. (Catherine Larkin), Bruce Gerald Parent (Brittany Boalt), Brett James Parent (Allison Giese), and Benjamin Peter Parent; and grandson, Noah Parent.

Art is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Kathy Ashby, Scott, Clarence, and Keith Parent and Sabrina Breihof; many nieces and nephews, especially Sophie ‘Angel’ Soricelli and Kayleigh ‘Princess’ Soricelli; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Mark Ashby Sr., with whom he was particularly close.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 PM, Sunday, February 23rd, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A funeral service will take place at 5 PM during the visitation with Rev. Jan Fritzinger officiating.

Art’s burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
