John D. (Jack) Van Buskirk of Winthrop and previously of Port Charlotte  FL, after a brief illness passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers on February 14, 2025. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday. John spent over 30 years working for the town of Winthrop as the Animal Control Officer. He loved to make everyone laugh and was always the first person on the dance floor. 

He was the devoted husband of Leona Van Buskirk and loving father of Jackie Van Buskirk and his wife Jodi from Revere, Mark Van Buskirk and his wife JoAnne from Winthrop, and Robert Van Buskirk of Winthrop. Cherished grandfather of Jenna Van Buskirk, Jonathan Van Buskirk, Vanessa Van Buskirk, Marc Van Buskirk, and his favorite four-legged friends, Kaiden & Tucker.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service in the First Church of Winthrop United Methodist 217 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
