Ronald C Kavchok Obituary

Ronald Christopher Kavchok (Ron) passed away peacefully at home on February 14th, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Diagnosed in 2020, he overcame unbelievable obstacles. He fought, recovered and rallied. He faced the unfairness of cancer with bravery. He lived. And he lives on.

Born in Canton, Ohio to Ronald William and Irene (Loginow) Kavchok, Ron was the middle of 3 sons. The Kavchok family moved to Hillsborough, NJ in 1976 and Ron graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1991. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Rider University.

Ron was a consummate worker. If it was broken, he fixed it. If he had an idea to make something easier, he invented it. He always had a project. He was a dedicated provider, but the roles he cherished and excelled at most were husband and father.

Ron met his wife Alison (Le Compte) on August 1st, 2001 when she started as a secretary at Medical Packaging Incorporated (MPI). They shook hands…and it was the beginning of forever. In February of 2003, Ron asked Alison to marry him saying “there’s no need to prolong the inevitable.” They married on May 1st, 2004 at St. Vladimir Orthodox Church in Trenton and had 2 beautiful children; Mathew in 2007 and Tamsin in 2009. They lived in Mercerville before moving to Ringoes in 2010. They celebrated 20 years of marriage this past May.

Ron was an amazing father. He and Tamsin would never miss an episode of Survivor. He helped Mathew build a pinewood derby racecar for boy scouts which looked like a cool shark. The family’s annual trips to Brigantine, NJ - packing up and heading to the beach each morning brought him joy and relaxation.

Ron’s work ethic was unmatched. He was precise, patient and logical. He was so proud of what he accomplished in his 30+ years with MPI where he rose from working in the warehouse to VP of Operations. He cherished the friendships he made there, and was able to travel extensively, too. He thoroughly enjoyed research and development. He was always thinking, learning, and creating at work and home. Ron retired from MPI in 2023.

Kindness is something that has been mentioned a lot when folks recall Ron. He was a loyal friend, quiet and perhaps a bit mischievous; and his eyes - they never looked angry. It was what Alison fell in love with first. His beautiful, safe brown eyes. Alison was the extrovert to Ron’s introvert, and Ron took such care of her. He worked so she could be home. He did not complain. They affectionately called each other “hunny bunny”. She would give anything to hear him say “coffee’s ready” from the kitchen first thing in the morning and “I love you, too, hunny bunny”. She loved the smell of his neck when she hugged him.

During his diagnosis, Ron was more worried about his family than himself, and Alison lovingly cared for him. They researched treatments, entered clinical trials and attempted any and all feasible options to cure, comfort, and/or provide time. Time for house projects, holidays, children's milestones, vacations.

In his final months of life, Ron was cared for around the clock by Alison as well as his dear mom, who is a retired nurse. At times it was scary. Sometimes, frustrating; but it was such a privilege to love him, to be loved by him, and to care for him. He was so, so good.

He should be here.

Ron is survived by his wife, Alison and children, Mathew and Tamsin at home; his Mother, Irene, of Hillsborough; his brothers, Kevin (Amanda) of Iron Station, NC and Steven of Denver, CO; his niece, Samantha and nephew, Zak as well as numerous extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his Father, Ronald William Kavchok, in 2007.

Also mourning his loss is his lifelong best friend Michael Bruno. Mike and Katie (Blakeslee) Bruno and their family have provided support, love, help and so many shared memories for the Kavchok family. Memories that will bring joy as we find a way to move forward in a world without him. Which, for now, is breathtakingly painful.

A visitation will take place on Friday, February 21st, from 10am to 1pm at the Hillsborough Funeral Home. At the conclusion of the visitation, there will be a religious service officiated by the Reverend Martin Kraus of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of East Meadow, NY. Rev Kraus married Ron and Alison and baptised Alison and Mathew. The family is incredibly thankful for his presence in their time of mourning.

A burial service will follow at the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Hillsborough.
