Mrs. Mary Adams Askew, 93, passed away at her home on Friday, February 14, 2025.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mary was born on August 14, 1931 in Pitt County. She was a graduate of Chicod High School. In her early years, Mary enjoyed many good family times at her home in Pamlico Beach, NC. She also enjoyed gardening and took pride in her beautiful yard. The family will always remember the delicious home-cooked meals she prepared for them. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of Pleasant Hill FWB Church and sang in the choir. She will be remembered for her faithful commitment to Christ, her love for family and her service to her Lord and Savior.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents: Snodie and Ladigole Adams; husbands, Charles (Sonny) Harris and Jimmie Brewer; sisters, Margie Adams White and Hazel Adams Moore; brother, William Earl Adams; and son, Randy Lee Harris.

She is survived by: her loving husband, James Askew; sons, Charles Harris (Donna), Jim Brewer (Audrey) and Todd Brewer (Jenee); grandchildren, Tyler Harris (Basak), Ryan Harris (Meghan), Alexis Brewer, Madison Brewer (fiance Tanner) and Cobie Brewer; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Jack Harris; brother, Talmadge Adams; step-children, Ronnie Askew (Lisa) and Deborah Askew and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge their gratitude to caregivers, Alta Russo, her sister-in-law, Brenda Adams, and family friend, Shirley Denton. They also extend their gratitude to ECU Hospice, Caitlynn, and staff.
