Wiliam Edward Buckles Obituary

William “Bill” Buckles, age 83, passed away on February 14, 2025, at University of Michigan Health - West Hospital.

Bill was a man of strength, kindness, and quiet generosity—a steady presence who left a lasting impact on those lucky enough to know him. Born to James and Edna (Andersen) Buckles, he learned early on the value of hard work and the importance of family. For 30 years, he made his living as a sheet metal fabricator in the mobile home industry, taking pride in his craft and the life he built for his family. But if you asked him, his greatest job—the one that brought him the most joy—was picking up his grandsons from school each day. There wasn’t a moment he cherished more than seeing their faces light up as he pulled up to get them, knowing he was exactly where he wanted to be.

Bill had a heart as big as his opinions, never one to shy away from speaking his mind, but always ready to help someone in need. He had a way of making people feel at home, whether it was sharing a conversation over a cup of coffee or offering the shirt off his back without hesitation. His generosity wasn’t flashy—it was simply who he was. If there was a way to lend a hand, Bill was there.

In his younger years, Bill found peace on the water with a fishing pole in hand. Later in life, he found joy in simpler moments—watching birds gather outside his window, soaking in the beauty of nature, and cheering on his favorite football teams. Whether it was a crisp autumn Saturday or a Sunday afternoon, if the game was on, Bill was watching.

Bill’s greatest love, though, was his family. He shared 59 wonderful years with his wife, Cynthia, a partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. He was a proud father to his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Desha Buckles, and an even prouder grandfather to Zachary Buckles (Ta-Kyla Irwin) and Terry Buckles. His great-grandson, Victor, brought him endless joy, and Bill’s legacy of love and devotion will continue in the generations that follow. He now reunites in heaven with his son, Troy, and his parents, James and Edna.

In honoring Bill’s wishes no formal funeral ceremony will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, an organization close to the family's heart.
