August 13, 1938 – Montreal, Quebec
February 14, 2025 – Airdrie, Alberta
Clifford “Cliff” Jesse John Tyler of Airdrie, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 86 years.
Born and raised in Montreal, QC, he and his wife, Norma, moved to Edmonton, AB, in 1976, later relocating to Calgary, AB. Norma and Cliff enjoyed many happy years in their Chestermere, AB, lakefront home before moving to Airdrie, AB, in 2018. No matter where they lived, their doors were always open to family and friends.
Cliff had a long and diverse career in the transportation/logistics business, but his favourite and most challenging was the Churchill Falls project in Labrador. He also owned and operated numerous businesses in the transportation industry. He loved to talk with anyone about baseball (Blue Jays), hockey (the Flames), golf, fishing, the stock market, business, and politics. He also enjoyed sharing a meal with anybody. Take-out anything was his favourite for the last few years, and he had just discovered donairs. He spent many years golfing in the men’s league on the Chestermere Lake course, where he made many friends. You would see him happily driving his purple cart back and forth down the road.
Cliff was predeceased by his wife, Norma, of 59 years in 2021, whom he missed each day; his parents, Fred and Violet Tyler; his brothers, Charlie and Norm and their wives; his in-laws, George and Florence Fletcher; and his brother-in-law, Howard Fletcher (Donna). Recently, he was predeceased by his longtime childhood friend and best man, Russell (Joan) Lawrence.
Cliff is survived by his loving children, Lori (Paul), and Tim (Marina); his grandchildren, Mitchell (Vanessa), Jocelyne, Madison (Dylan), Brodie (Lexi), and Caden; and his little great-granddaughter, Aria. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda (Rick), Joanne (Terry), and Donna; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his little fur and snack companion, Bella, who has found a new home with family members.
Cliff was dearly loved and will be very much missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to thank Cliff’s close friends, Jeff, Bonnie and Jeffrey, Jeannie and John, and Joan for always staying in touch with Cliff through visits and phone calls, which he always enjoyed.
