Jeanne Ardell Richardson, age 90, born May 31, 1934, in Edgerton, WI, died on February 14, 2025, at Prairie Pointe Assisted Living Center in Altoona, WI. Jeanne married Howard A. Richardson on June 18, 1955. They had 4 children: John (Lori), Charles (Patty), Ann, and Douglas (Penny). She had 10 grandchildren: Walker, Melissa, Kelly, Erin, Jamie, Kyle, Abigail, Maggie, Bailey and Gabe; and 14 great grandchildren: Jaden, Madelyn, Blake, Emmett, Rowan, Jacob, Miles, Zoey, Raya, Ivy, Julianne, Wesley, Paige and future baby K. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Julie) Danielson; 3 nieces, Leanne, Sarah and Kari; and nephew, Brian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Beatrice Danielson; brothers, Richard and Randy Danielson; granddaughter, Hailey Richardson; and husband, Howard.
Jeanne worked at Toddler’s Treehouse in Edgerton with her mother and daughter cooking and baking for the children and staff. Everyone looked forward to lunch time. Later, she worked as an aide for Edgerton High School.
Along with her husband, Jeanne owned and operated Creekview Campground for over 40 years, where they developed some long-lasting friendships. She was known for serving free coffee and homemade donuts on weekends for patrons. She was famous for her Norwegian Lefsa she made during the Christmas season. She inherited this laborious trade from her mother, known to all as Granny Bea. Jeanne dutifully passed the tradition on to her grandchildren.
Jeanne had several hobbies, including cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, sewing, as well as quilting with the ladies at Central Lutheran Church. Her signature hobby was collecting cookbooks, resulting in a compilation occupying the size of a small bank vault. Common opinions: she probably missed her true calling by not opening a restaurant.
Jeanne and her husband also raised tobacco for many years (to the chagrin of their children). On the bright side it was a challenge for the field workers to report for duty after consuming carrot, potato and hamburger hotdish for lunch.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Edgerton Hospital and Edgerton Care Center and the compassionate caregivers that made her day. The family would also like to acknowledge the campers, too many to number, who Jeanne and her husband looked forward to seeing each season. Those patrons reinforced the adage that it’s not really working if you love what you’re doing.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton.
