Thelma Morton (nee Gailey), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the age of 92 years.

The family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Words cannot express the loss we all feel today, but we know that she is free of pain and reunited with our dear father, her mother, and all those she loved who passed before her.

Mom was born in East London, South Africa, on March 14, 1932. At the age of ten, our father told his mother he was going to marry Thelma one day—and he did. They had a beautiful marriage and raised four children, Gavin, Pearl, Verity, and Dianne. There was always love and laughter in our home, and food on the table. Dad predeceased Mom in 1999 at the age of 67, and Mom immigrated to Canada. Leaving Gavin, Dianne, and her grandchildren behind was extremely difficult for her, but she settled into a new life with Pearl and Verity and their families. She eventually met and married Bruce (Pops) and we embraced Bruce's sons—David, Andrew—and their families. Again, love and laughter abided, and there was never a dull moment.

Mom is the only person we know who never spoke a bad word about anyone and always managed to find the good in people. She never spread or entertained gossip! She was a true rock in our family, just as her own mother was before her.

There are no words that can truly express how we felt about our dearest Mom. Her husband Bruce, children, Gavin, Pearl, Verity (Janus), and Dianne; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are left to mourn her loss. There are many relatives and friends everywhere who join us in the loss of a true and beautiful rose like no other.

Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, where Mom spent her final days surrounded by her family.
