Sandra Silver Obituary

Sandra Silver, beloved mother, Nana, sister and friend, passed away after a short illness on February 14, 2025. She was born on June 9, 1933, in Newark, NJ to Irving and Ruth Sazer and lived a life filled with warmth, kindness and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Sandra, or Sonie as many of her friends affectionately called her, was a graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark. She loved to reminisce about how proud she was to be a part of what was considered, at that time, to be the best high school in New Jersey and loved telling stories of how wonderful life was growing up in the bustling, thriving city of Newark.

Sandra was known for her spunky, personality and whether dressed for a night on the town or a trip to Shoprite or TJ Maxx, you would find her sparkling in her coveted jewels, rhinestones, blue eyeshadow and her signature pink lipstick. She was a true glamour girl, and her generous spirit and playful heart were always at the forefront, making her not only beautiful on the outside but even more so on the inside. Sandra’s love for life, family, and all things pink will forever be remembered by those who knew her.

Sandra leaves behind her fiancée Craig Casey and her loving children Ellen (nee Lerman) Sossin, Drew Lerman, Susan (nee Silver) Cohen (Jeffrey) and Rick Silver (Carolyn) as well as her stepson, Michael Silver (Lauren). She was the cherished Nana to Matt, Eric, Jason, Robert, Alec, Jacob, Rachel, Hugo and Jack and was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Romy and Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bernard (Robert) Silver, her parents Irving and Ruth Sazer, her brother Elliot Sazer and her cherished son, Robert whom she loved deeply and missed every day.

A graveside service will be held for immediate family on Sunday, February 16th.

The family will be sitting shiva on Sunday, February 16th starting at 1:30pm at the home of Drew Lerman. Please call Menorah Chapels at (908) 964-1500 more information.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Sandra to support a cause that was near and dear to her heart, Cycle for Survival. Donations may be made to: https://secure2.convio.net/mskcc/site/TR/CycleforSurvival/CycleforSurvival?px=3511955&pg=personal&fr_id=4162

May her memory forever be a blessing. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of all who love her. She was a legend, our queen and was deeply loved. She will be missed terribly.
