Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Lillian "Sue" Poirot, age 102, who passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at her daughter’s residence in Lafayette.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille Funeral Home, 330 St Landry Street, on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday,February 18, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass.
Reverend Monsignor Jefferson DeBlanc, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and officiate the services. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Survivors include her five children, Gayle P. Weimer, John J. Poirot, II, and his wife, Sandra, Brian T. Poirot and his wife, Cindy, Deborah P. Chaisson and her husband, Aren “Butch,” and Suzanne P. Broussard; fourteen grandchildren, Eric, Amy, David, John, Monique, Brandon, Shawn, Donna, Anne, Aren, Mark, Julie, Jonathan, and Jill; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild on the way; and many relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband John J. Poirot, Sr.; her parents, Lloyd Patrick Powell, Sr., and Lillian Tarantino Powell; her brothers, Lloyd P. Powell, Jr., and John Powell; and a son-in-law, Gil Weimer.
Sue Poirot, a native of New Orleans, LA, and a longtime resident of Lafayette, LA. since 1949, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for her family with love and kindness.
Sue found joy in nurturing her grandchildren, bowling, cooking, and hosting family gatherings for celebrations and holidays. She was an active member of the Lafayette Optimist Mrs. Club and a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where she was involved in Fatima’s Parent Club.
Sue’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Eric Weimer, David Weimer, John J. Poirot, III, Brandon Poirot, Shawn Poirot, Aren Chaisson, III, Mark Chaisson, and Jonathan Broussard.
