Delna Glenn Dail, Sr., age 84, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at his residence on Friday, February 14, 2025. Born in Snow Hill, NC, on September 28, 1940, to the late Patrick Louis Dail and Rose Rouse Dail, he was the husband of Betty Hill Dail. Known for his commitment to law enforcement, he served as a highway patrolman and retired after 29 years with the esteemed rank of 1st Sergeant. His career was marked by a steadfast dedication to protecting and serving his community.
In addition to his spouse of 61 years, he is survived by two sons, Delna Glenn Dail, Jr., and Craig Dail (Karen); four grandchildren, Taylor, Tiffany, Kayla, and Patrick; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Dail (Pat); and one cat, Bubba. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Pete Dail, Bobby Dail, and William Dail; and sisters Earline Sugg and Grace Murphy.
Beyond his professional life, Delna was a man of simple pleasures and devout faith. He was a cherished member of Victory Baptist Church, where his presence will be missed by many. In his leisure time, Delna found joy in tending to his garden and working in his yard, where he cultivated not just plants but also a profound sense of peace and satisfaction.
A man of adventure at heart, Delna enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, always eager to experience the world beyond his doorstep. His love for NASCAR greatly delighted him, as he eagerly followed the sport and its thrilling races.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Pastor Reginald Parker officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives for a visitation one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. service. Delna’s service will be live-streamed on his obituary page at www.TwifordFH.com. The graveside service scheduled on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in Snow Hill has been canceled due to incoming winter storm. This obituary will be updated when the service is rescheduled.
