Douglas Clark Kick, age 70, of Shakopee, Minnesota passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home.

We will celebrate Doug’s life on Friday, February 21, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at New Day Church, 1201 1st St NE, New Prague. Visitation will begin Friday, 9:30 AM, also at the church.

Doug was born on June 24, 1954, in Rush City, Minnesota, the son of Clark and Patricia Jeanne (Peterson) Kick. The family relocated to Brooklyn Park and Doug was a graduate of the Osseo High School class of 1972. He would be united in marriage to Katherine Jean Johnson, a high school friend who later became his sweetheart, on December 29, 1973, in Crystal, MN.

Doug attended the University of Minnesota for a year, and then joined the United States Army. He and Kathy would reside in Indiana where Doug was stationed until his discharge in 1979. When they returned to Minnesota Doug took Meat Cutters training in Pipestone, MN before landing in Jordan, MN where he worked for Rademacher’s for ten years. They then moved to New Prague, MN where they raised their family. He went to work for Pillsbury which later became General Mills. He served as Plant Production Manager for 25-plus years until retiring at age 62. In 2008 he and Kathy moved to Shakopee to be closer to family. Doug kept busy with part-time work until recently.

Doug loved music deeply and was a talented musician. He was a member of the Army Band in Indiana, playing the tuba. He also played the bass guitar and was a member of the Hopkins Westwood Concert Band. He would call the kids and play happy birthday for them over the phone on his tuba; an amazing memory we are blessed to have. He was devoted to his family and had a strong faith in God. We wish you peace and will miss you like crazy.

Doug is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 51 years, Kathy; his children, Heather (Richard) Kick-Abrahamson, Jayme (Scott) Wetch, Josh Kick, Aaron (Lori) Kick, Philip (Jessica) Kick, Hannah (Matt) Seifert, Heidi (Lee) Pierquet; his bonus kids, Patti (Bill) Barrett; grandchildren, Jake, Kassy, Samantha, Elora, Eli, Madilyn, Kylie, Ava, Ryan, Blake, Zack, Levi, Alex, Jordan, and Katelyn; bonus grandkids, Mary Kate (Stephen) Thiltges and their children, Philomena, and Joseph; and Billy (McKaylah) Barrett, and Shannon Barrett; siblings, Jeff (Laurel) Kick, Tracey (Anne Colestock) Kick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Anda Kick.
