Wanda B. Maddox, 91, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on February 14, 2025. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene, Texas 79601.
Wanda was born on July 31, 1933, in Roby, Texas, to S.I. and Beattrace Wharton. She dedicated her life to education, serving as a beloved teacher at Fannin Elementary. Before her teaching career, she worked as a secretary in the legal and oil industries for 15 years.
A faithful member of Woodlawn Church of Christ for over 50 years, Wanda lived a life guided by faith and service.
On February 9, 1952, she married the love of her life, Floyd Maddox, and together they built a family. Their union was blessed with a son, Ben B. Maddox, born on October 30, 1967.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Maddox; her parents, S.I. and Beattrace Wharton; her sister, Viva Littlefield; and her brother, Marshall Wharton.
She leaves behind her cherished son, Ben Maddox of Abilene, Texas, along with friends, former students, and a community that will always remember her warmth, dedication, and kindness.
Her legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
