Samuel Becker Jr. Obituary

Samuel Becker Jr, 87, of Branchburg, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at his home. Born in Pittsburg, PA, Samuel resided in Bradley Gardens and Raritan before moving to Branchburg many years ago.

Sam started his career at a very young age working alongside Capital Electric which was owned by the Sander Brothers of Bradley Gardens. He eventually started his own business (Samuel Becker Jr. Electrical Contractor). His business included the contract work for the Mt. Vernon Ski Resort and the Metz Metallurgical Corporate Processing Plant in South Plainfield, NJ. He also built the US Post Office in Manville, NJ, his own home/garages/swimming pool and also building/renovating homes in towns such as Mt. Pleasant and Somerville.

Sam had many passions and interests, which included partnering with his good friend Carl Meixner to open Old Dominion Lobster Company and purchasing the vessel “The Gannet” which operated in Chincoteague Island, VA. In addition, Sam obtained his Amateur Radio License from the United States of America federal Communications Commission and was avid in not only collecting Amateur Radio equipment but also speaking to Ham Radio operators around the world. Other interests included flying his own plane, taking trips in his RV and riding his motorcycle with a group of friends on Sundays. One of his favorite places to travel was to the George Frisch Family Farm in Nebraska. George always showed him a memorable and great time. Even in the last few months of life, whenever the name George Frisch was mentioned to him, it would bring a smile to Sam’s face.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Pauline (Volek) Soriano.

Surviving is his devoted and loving wife Karen Sueper, his two sons, Gary and Sam Becker, his daughter, Lisa Becker, his sister, Karen Schindelar, his niece Courtney Schindelar, two granddaughters and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 10am-11am at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 RT. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 11am. Entombment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
