Janice Rae (Ferguson) Brewer, passed away peacefully February 11, 2025, at the age of 87, with her family by her side.  Born May 20,1937 in the town of  Moriah, N.Y., she was the son of the late Harold Acey Ferguson and Florence Eliza Ploufe. Janice was predeceased by her life long partner and love of her life Robert “Bob” Pilger, her brothers, Harold Joseph Ferguson, and Larry Acey Ferguson, and sisters, Mary Angela (Ferguson) Masse and Rhinda Ann (Ferguson) Brock.  Janice is  survived by her daughter Roxann Stoddard, her husband Mike (Mineville, NY) along with their children Jackie Priest, her husband Tony, their children Breyten, Colten and Traeh Andersen (Hague NY), Preston Vargo, his wife Janelle, their children Maddalina, Gianna, Natalia and Paxton Vargo (Port Henry, NY), Brandy Paul, her husband Mike, their children Baylie and Keegan (Burlington Vt) and Brian Stoddard, his wife Melissa, their children Brynn and Mila (Mineville, NY).  Additionally she is survived by her sisters, Doris St. Clair, Rhea Belden, Linda Nadeau and her sister-in-law Susan Ferguson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also extended family Brenda Pilger Muir and her husband Thomas Muir, their children Sarah Zeleznik and Lillian Muir, and grandchildren Nicholas and Thomas Zeleznik. Janice leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories, joining those loved ones who have gone before her. To know Janice you would know first and foremost her love and devotion to her family ran deeper than any ocean. Her daughter Roxann, son in law Mike along with all the  grandchildren were most definitely her favorite thing to brag about. If you had a second you would be sure to hear about one of them. None could do wrong, were perfect beyond words, convincing her otherwise would be impossible.  Secondly, she worked harder  than most and never stopped. Whether it be in her profession where she worked for many years as a cashier at the Grand Union in Port Henry or in later years as a Hostess at a restaurant where she lived in Florida and eventually retired from. She took pride in her work and could always work circles around anyone.  Thirdly her love for her life partner Bob. The two of them shared so many adventures together. Some that could be hard to believe but all of them were most definitely true. Janice could keep you entertained for hours with decades of her amazing  stories. Not one of them  any less interesting than the previous. Through, her one liners /zingers  and enunciation of words  which she was notorious for definitely added to any  story or conversation.  There was never a storm or national disaster that was going to stop her from getting, going and doing what she wanted.  From the many years spent with Bob boating and sailing the coast lines, to surviving hurricanes out at sea or demanding to still travel home to Florida during 9/11 she was a force to be reckoned with. She was truly a beautiful,  amazing woman with such strength and determination.  Janice took much pride in her gardens which she kept meticulous until her health prevented her from maintaining them. Even then she would still push and try her best to keep them looking how she believed they needed to be.  She loved to go shelling, fishing with her grandkids or just spending family time at her  camp in Crown Point. Bingo was a serious thing and sitting around playing cards, caromes and yahtzee  were all considered  times well spent with family. Her laugh was infectious. She  loved, with, every fiber of her body. Never did you  walk away from Janice questioning how she felt about you. She was always a great person to go to for advice, always giving it to you straight.  If you were ever lucky enough you  would also know beyond her love for her family, her work ethic, adventurous side  and storytelling. She was famously known for her fried donuts,  always made  exactly how each person wanted/requested them. No one will ever come close to making them as good as she did.  Janice’s loss will be deeply felt by her  family, and anyone that had the privilege of ever knowing her.  Though she is no longer with us and has joined Bob to continue their adventures together, her unwavering love, amazing stories, and her strength she possessed , will continue on in the hearts and minds  of those she touched. Per Janice’s request there will be no services. The family intends to celebrate Janice privately.
