Larry E. Thomas, Sr., 72, of Mercersburg, died Tuesday September 30, 2015, at Manor Care Health Services, Chambersburg. Born October 14, 1942, at Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Wilson and Margaret Koser Thomas. Larry spent 26 years with the Mercersburg Boro Police Department, many of those years he served as Chief. He enjoyed his years as a police officer, his horses, and restoring cars. Surviving family include three sons, Larry E., Jr. and wife Kim Thomas of St. Thomas, PA, Barry and wife Jenny Thomas of Chambersburg, and Brian Thomas of Shippensburg, PA Seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a step daughter, Stacy Burget of Mercersburg. Larry was preceded in death by a son, Jason Thomas, who died in 1992. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Ronald Lynch officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
