MINARSKI, Stanley Joseph
A longtime resident of Horseheads, NY passed away on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the age of 92. Stan was born May 6, 1923, a son of the late Francis and Mary Puchosic Minarsky. Stan served his country honorably with the US Army, 34th Infantry Division and received awards including a purple heart with cluster. He retired from Westinghouse after 33 years as an Implosion Protection Operator. He is pre-deceased by his beloved son Joseph. Stan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Catherine Byer Minarski; daughter-in-law, Margaret Minarski of Galway, NY; children, David (Bette) Minarski of Dryden, NY; Christine Minarski of Clifton Park, NY, Michael (Traci) Minarski of Breckenridge, CO; grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Jennifer, Jonathan, Amy, Katie, Mary, James and Stephen; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Anthony (Sharon) Minarsky; and many endearing in-laws, loving nieces and nephews, and all of his devoted and caring Gardner Road “family”. Stan's unconditional love for others was well known. He served at St Mary our Mother Church for countless hours as an usher and bingo worker. A constant smile on his face, he was always laughing and joking with everyone he met. A true entertainer, he liked playing the harmonica, singing and playing the spoons.One of Stan's passions was polka dancing. His rhythm and skill on the dance floor was unsurpassed. Stan greatly appreciated the kindness of his caregiver Brian and the wonderful staff at the Bath VA "and then some”. In a celebration of Stan's life, his family will greet guests on Thursday November 19, 2015 from 4-6 PM at Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Church, Horseheads, NY on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 9:30AM.
