Lucille Mendola Obituary

Lucille Mendola

03/30/1939 - 02/04/2025

Lucille (Salemi) Mendola, age 85, entered into God’s kingdom on February 4th, 2025, peacefully

where she lived in Tierra Verde, FL.

Lucille was born in Bronx, NY to Ida & Joseph Salemi on March 30, 1939. Lucille was a joy to them

both and as well as her 2 older brothers Bennie and Vinny who adored her. As a child, Lucille loved

music and it was quickly realized she was gifted as an amazing pianist. Winning awards through

her school years and even making recordings of her playing Beethoven and Bach renditions

flawlessly in NYC music studios.

While in elementary school, Lucille met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Mendola. They quickly

realized they shared the love of music and throughout school attended glee club and band

together. They married in 1960. They continued to make beautiful music their entire lives until Bob

passed away in 2023.

Lucille held positions as secretary and administrator for some years but her most treasured role

was as an amazing wife and mother to Elise & (Edward) Vicinanza, Robert & (JoAnn) Mendola and

Lauren & (Frank) Casquarelli. She was an awesome Nana to her beloved six grandchildren Lauren

& (Alex) Cassity, Ed & (Melissa) Vicinanza, Chet Casquarelli, Michael & (Gabbi) Vicinanza, Taylor

Casquarelli & Joseph Casquarelli where her love and servant’s heart for them will always be

treasured by them.

She will be remembered by family and friends as smart, beautiful, talented, spunky, wise and very

sweet. After raising her family in Westchester, NY, they retired to beautiful Tierra Verde, FL to be

surrounded by additional family members of brothers and nieces and nephews as well as their

daughters and grandchildren who moved down over the last few years and spent numerous

additional joyous times together.

The loss of her beloved Bob created a true broken heart and the family is grateful they are in the

loving arms of our Lord and Savior and are at peace where there is no pain and suffering. Although

the children were surprised with the unexpected passing and will miss “Mom” and “Nana” they

know they will all be reunited one day.

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to a place I

have prepared for you” Exodus 23:20.

Lucille’s memory will be honored on Wednesday, February 12, at 1 p.m. during a mass at the

Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle in St. Petersburg. Funeral will be on Thursday, February 13 at

9:30 a.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery. A live stream for the church service will be available on

the Brett Funeral Home website https://stjudesp.org/
