Hugh Wilson Sloan Obituary

Mr. Hugh Wilson Sloan, 73, of W. Kirk St. passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at his residence.

Born Jan. 27, 1942 in Rowan County to the late Ernest Odell Sloan and Jennie Lucille Partee Sloan,

Mr. Sloan was educated in the public schools of Rowan County, took courses at Catawba College and retired from Hoescht Celenese in Salisbury.

A devoted member of Sills Creek AME Zion Church he served as a trustee, choir member, helpkeep for the church grounds, on the kitchen committee, as an usher, Sunday school and did other various jobs within the church.

He was preceeded in death by a sister, Ernestine Alexander; uncles, aunts and cousins.

Mr. Sloan leaves precious and loving memories to his wife, Shirley Ann Harris Sloan of the home; children, Darlene Sloan Livingston (Terry) of Huntersville, Veronica Sloan Williams (Walter) of Raleigh and Steven Sloan and fiancee Miranda Thorneburg of China Grove; sister, Jennie Ann Brawley (Curlee) of Salisbury; brother, James Sloan (Mae) of Spencer; a devoted niece, Bridget “Panky” Ardrey (Ricky) of Salisbury; grandchldren, Michelle Livingston, Makayla Williams, Kevondre' Williams and Allison Thorneburg; great-grandchildren, My'kel Livingston and Lauren Livingston; three special godchildren, Deborah Tijani, Crystal Holtzclaw and Brandon Bowen; a multitude of other godchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and many friends.
