Lynn Zwald Smith, age 64, of Alpharetta, GA passed away on November 11, 2018. Funeral services will be held on November 20, 2018 at First Redeemer Church, 2100 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, GA 30041 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends on November 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Peachtree Corners, GA, 30092. Preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Zwald, she is survived by her mother, Lillian Douglas Zwald, husband of 44 years, David, son Bryan Smith, son Wes Smith and wife Jillian Smith, daughter Janice Brown and husband Aaron Brown, sister Karen Zwald, and brothers Frank and Robert Zwald. She is also survived by nine grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Lynn graduated from Columbia High School in 1972 and graduated from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in Atlanta in 1975. She worked as Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse and Head nurse of an oncology unit at Georgia Baptist Medical Center after graduation. Next, she was an integral part of the GBMC's first Metabolic Support Team providing hyper alimentation therapy to malnourished patients & premature infants in the NICU. After leaving GBMC in 1980, she founded one of the first home care companies in the southeast, Comfort Care, Inc. and was next Regional Operations Manager for New England Critical Care's southeast branch office. She was named "Employee of the Year" for this company in the 1987. Lynn left the medical profession for several years in the 1990's to be at home with her three children. Once they graduated from High School, Lynn's career moved in a different direction as she went to work as a Legal Nurse Consultant for various law firms in the Atlanta area - Law Smith, Hawkins & Parnell, Weinberg Wheeler and Weathington McGrew. She married her high school sweetheart, David Smith in December 1974, just before graduating from Nursing School and lived in the Atlanta area her entire life. Lynn has been an active member of the churches she attended serving in various leadership roles and was an active member of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University Alumni Association recently serving as president of the organization. She received their Excellence in Health Policy, Ethics and Law award in 2015. She was deeply loved by her family and by all who knew her.
