Everett Wilson Leffler, age 72, of Mattoon, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

A Memorial Service with Military Rites honoring his life will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Schilling Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire.

Everett was born on January 4, 1953 in Mattoon at the Mattoon Memorial Hospital, the son of Melvin and Mildred “Mick” (Trailor) Leffler. He married Deanne Eads on March 5, 1983.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years Deanne Leffler of Mattoon, IL; son, Clayton E. Leffler of Mattoon, IL; and sister, Yvonna (Robert) Rennels of Sullivan, IL, Everett was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Leffler and his wife, Karen.

Everett served honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked at Yardmans (now Hydr-Gear in Sullivan), Coy Masonry in Sullivan, and later worked and retired from Justrite after 42 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles. Everett excelled in sports early in life. He taught himself to be ambidextrous and was an excellent left-handed pitcher. In his younger years, Everett coached Babe Ruth baseball and enjoyed bowling in leagues with his wife. Everett had many motorcycles; they were his pride and joy. Everett will be remembered as a kind and generous person and a good father. He enjoyed going out to eat and especially enjoyed going to House Brothers on Friday nights. In September 2021, Everett had a stroke and Deanne lovingly cared for him since that time. Everett will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
