Jimmy Dean Smith, age 63, passed away at Mountain Meadows Nursing Home in Southside, Arkansas on February 6, 2025. He was born on August 18, 1961 to Thomas and Margie Smith.
Jimmy was raised in Wheatley, Arkansas, working with his father on the family farm, and spent many years as a truck driver. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
Jimmy was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Hunter, Arkansas on January 10, 1981 by Brother Glenn Thompson, and was a firm believer in his faith. He found comfort in the scripture, “And let us not be weary in well doing; for in the due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” - Galatians 6:9
Jimmy is survived by his mother, Margie; two sons, Aaron Smith (Cassie) of Southside, Arkansas and Lukas Smith of Lakeview, Arkansas and their mother, Joanna Lacefield; two brothers, Edward Smith (Vickie) of Oklahoma City and Bud Smith (Reta) of Rose Bud, Arkansas; two sisters, Patricia Smith of Purcell, Oklahoma and Brenda Foreman of Antioch, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Kirsten Smith Crowder (Xander Sr.), Darren Smith, Laken Smith, Addie Smith, Corbin Smith, and Oakley Smith; one great-grandchild, Xander Crowder, Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; a brother, Rickey Smith; and a nephew, Brandon Smith. A graveside service will be held on February 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, 64 Candlestick Road, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, with Brother Harvey Sloate officiating and Heber Springs Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Jacob Smith, Darren Smith, Chris Lacefield, Bobby Anderson, Dwayne Bishop, Boyd Blake, and Jason Melvin (honorary).
